Ship Cancelled After Death of Female Passenger Abandoned on Island
A 60-day cruise through Australia has been cancelled days after the tragic passing of an elderly lady who was stranded by the cruise liner on a distant coastal location.
The elderly woman had been hiking on Lizard Island with fellow passengers from the vessel, but separated from the group for a pause. The vessel departed without her and came back several hours later after the crew became aware the passenger was missing.
An extensive rescue mission discovered her body the next day.
Authorities are examining the incident, together with police and the medical examiner.
The CEO of the shipping company said that travelers and personnel on the Coral Adventurer were informed that the remainder of the journey had been cancelled due to the "sad loss and earlier technical problems".
In a statement, he added that guests would be given a total repayment, and said the organization was working "to arrange the return journeys of the travelers via chartered flights".
Officials also published an updated statement, and said they had "delivered a directive to the Commander" banning any new passengers from getting on the liner.
The spokesperson said that they would attend the ship in the Australian city upon its coming back.

The vessel initially left the Australian port on the 24th of October, and was merely two days into the voyage at the time of the senior passenger's demise. The tropical location was the first stop on the journey.
Travelers on the ship - who typically pay tens of thousands of money to join the cruise - were transported there for a daily excursion with the choice of walking or snorkeling.

The daughter of the deceased woman said that her relatives was "surprised and grieved that the ship left Lizard Island after an organised tour without my parent".
Via her announcement, she described her mum as an "energetic elderly person" who was a member of a bushwalking organization.
"According to scant information we have been informed, it looks that there was a lapse of attention and common sense," she stated.
She continued that she hoped the inquiry would be able to identify what "the organization should have undertaken that might have protected Mother's life".
"Based on information from the investigators that it was a exceptionally warm afternoon, and mum fell ill on the mountain ascent," she revealed.
"Officials suggested her to head down, alone. Then the ship sailed away, apparently without conducting a roll call.
"During some point in that process, or not long after, mother succumbed, without company."
Company Reaction
Via official communication, the CEO verified that the organization was "collaborating extensively with officials to support their examination".
He said that the organization was "extremely apologetic that this has transpired" and had extended its complete assistance to the family.
Cruise Industry Standards
The vessel serves up to a hundred twenty guests with forty-six personnel, according to official details. It was purpose-built to enter distant areas of the nation's coastline and is fitted with "small boats" - compact vessels used to take individuals on day excursions.
Occurrences like this are rare, and cruise ships have protocols to track which travelers are boarding or getting off, according to travel authorities.
